Pieve di Ledro is a small village situated about 660 metres above sea level on the north-western shores of Lake Ledro.
The settlement is clearly split into the historic core of the village with its church and the touristic, rambling part of town along Lake Ledro. The latter offers a wealth of accommodation establishments for the visitor as well as a lake beach with sunbathing areas and a shingle beach.
The name Pieve di Ledro is derived from the Latin term „plebs“ („ordinary folk“) suggesting that the place used to be a gathering place for the people of the valley in olden times. It thus seems to be obvious that the power which used to be vested in the church and its bishops was based in Pieve di Ledro.
The town is located centrally meaning that the visitor can swarm out in all direction on foot or by mountain bike. Additional recreational opportunities in the town include a mini golf course, a pedal boat and skiff rental service and a tennis court (chargeable).
We suggest you also visit the small pharmacy museum in the town. In the farmacia next-door you can local liquor as well as cosmetic products produced in the region.
